Prior to submitting an application for your child, we invite you to visit The Common School and get a feel for our programs, community and mission.

By filling out the form below, you are not committing to an application. But it does allow us to know you are considering The Common School and to share additional information with you.

Parent (or Caregiver) tour and meet with admissions

Tours begin October 1st, by appointment only.
Visit appointments can only be set after an inquiry is submitted. The School will reach out to schedule via email or phone. The visit allows you to spend time on our campus and learning spaces, experiencing our culture first hand. You will also be able to ask questions, dive into our philosophy and share information about your child.

Application

Preferred application date: January 31st.
The application is available online. There are some short answer questions to help us understand your child and family needs, as well as teacher forms, written records and a $40 fee. We encourage that applications be submitted on January 31st. These families will be prioritized as it gives us a better opportunity to get to know your family. Late applications are accepted as we understand parents are busy and this is a big decision. Please advise Dana (outreach@commonschool.org) if you need extra time to determine if you want to apply.

Child visit

Visits are scheduled beginning in early February.
We will get in touch with you to set up this visit. Our youngest children visit in small groups or individually, older children visit individually. The goal of the visit is to have us become acquainted with your child and so you and your child can get a stronger sense of the School.

Notifications

Admissions decisions begin on February 15th of each year.
A contract and deposit are required to confirm your child’s admission.

Admissions Considerations

  • We seek to promote diversity in our student and family body.

  • We look for indications that The Common School is well-suited to meet the needs of a particular applicant.

  • For children with special needs, careful consideration is given on an individual basis to determine if the School has the resources to support the applicant.

  • Children need to have turned three years old by September 1 to enter the Nursery program, and five years old by September 1 to enter Primary 1.
